Lugaru HD may be rather hard to swallow in the beginning, due to the weird characters and the general lack of detail when it comes to the game world and the environments. A truly interesting and innovative experience
It's all part of the fun, though, so you definitely won't mind dying every once in a while. Hence, knives and swords are incredibly effective against most enemies, although they also pose some disadvantages, because you can be disarmed just as easily and have to deal with the blades yourself. Moreover, there are also weapons that can be employed during the fights, which increase the damage you deal with every hit. However, the ragdoll bodies and the nice animations turn these skirmishes into incredibly acrobatic and fun to watch combat sequences. The combat itself is mostly reflex-based, in the sense that you can attack or reverse the attack of your foe, by pressing the appropriate key at the right time. Defeat your enemies in bloody close-combat encountersĪs previously mentioned, the main character possesses legendary fighting skills, which allow him to take on even the toughest enemies. While it may not make too much sense overall, the plot is pretty nice and it certainly gets points for being centered entirely around vicious bunnies. Naturally, Turner seeks revenge and spills the blood of the guilty parties, although while doing so, he finds out that the greater villains are the wolves, who aim to enslave the bunnies and pit them against each other. The story talks about an anthropomorphic rabbit by the name of Turner with incredible fighting skills, whose family and entire village gets massacred by another group of bunnies. However, the gameplay truly is the centerpiece of the game, since it all revolves around the addictive and unique combat mechanics you get to use throughout the campaign.
Despite the rather innocent and even cuddly appearance of the characters on the screen, the story and the action unfolding in front of your eyes is very brutal and graphic, not to mention disturbing at times. Lugaru HD is a good example of originality and creativity, although it can also be a good example of weirdness. As long as it feels and looks new, on the other hand, everyone should be more than pleased to give it a try. However, people still manage to impress and take the public by surprise, even if some of the new material might have its roots in something vaguely similar. Original ideas are rather hard to come by in any field nowadays, especially when it comes to art or anything else that's creative, such as movies, music or video games.
